Diving notes

Behavior to have: respect the environment and the fauna.

The picture on the left shows the narrow road you have to take to get to the wharf. The picture on the center shows the wharf at low tide (the road and the bay are shown). The picture on the right shows the old wharf.

The dives are done from shore (except otherwise). The water current is mild (except otherwise) at low tide. Ask to local authorities. The dives are done in sea water, watch your buoyancy. Raise the weight on your weight belt accordingly. A 7.5mm thick neoprene wet suit is mandatory. A dry suit may be more suitable depending of your comfort habits. Water temperature varies around 4°C (40°F).

You may find a different fauna due to the presence of the scallops. Be carefull not to eat them outside the season.

Bring a certain amount of soft water in order to rince at least your regulator. There is no facility.

Road directions
Approximative travel time : 1:00 hr

From Baie Comeau, follow road 138 heading East up to Franquelin.

Other road plan are possible, please consult a road map.

The road leading to the old wharf of Franquelin is located on the South side of the 138 road. Heading East watch the road sign for Franquelin and then slow down because the entrance is just after in the middle of the slope.

The road leading to the wharf is narrow. While approaching the wharf the slope of the road is quite abrupt. It is strongly recommended to have a vehicule with good road clearance with good tires with 4 wheels drive. You have to take in consideration that it is an old road not used anymore. You will not be able to turn on the road. You have to go forward or backward.
