Diving notes

The picture on the left shows the dive site area (North view). The picture on the right shows the gates of the lock (looking West). It is a canal dive. Opened in 1899, it is now closed to traffic since 1959 at the opening of the St.Lawrence Seaway. Some old artifacts can be seen. Visibility is bad during spring and improve during summer to the end of june. It degrades after and becomes good during fall. It is no very good after strong rain falls. The dive is done from the North side of the canal.     4.0Mb

Road directions

Approximative travel time : 1:00 hr From Dorion on highway 20, watch and turn on road 338 heading West toward Pointe-des-Cascades (~7km from Dorion). Turn left on Cascades road. At the stop, turn right on Centrale street. Heading South, cross the bridge downto Chemin du fleuve et turn left at the intersection. Follow up to the stop sign and up to the parking lot on the right side of the road. From there you will have to carry your gear by following a trail.
